Christ Deliverance Temple Pentecostal Church was founded by Evangelist Nellie M. Brownlow on November 11, 1979. The church worshipped in two other locations before moving to their permanent address of 1351 W. 51st Street of Chicago, IL. This church served God for the next 24 years or more under her leadership. In June of 2014, Eld. Terry and Evg. Terri Tillmon was asked to fellowship with Pastor Brownlow until the return of her armourbearer, Minister Gayle Swilley.

While worshipping there, Pastor Brownlow ask Eld.Terry Tillmon to be her assistant, and prayerfully he accepted. Eld. and Evg. Tillmon was told by Pastor Brownlow to elicit ideas that would help the governing and functioning of the church, which they did. On November 22, 2015, Eld. and Evg. Terry Tillmon was installed as Pastor and First Lady of Christ Deliverance Temple Pentecostal Church by the Assistant Presiding Prelate, Bishop Chester Hudson of the Living Witnesses of the Apostolic Faith Incorporated.

They continued this ministry for an additional year before renaming the church to The Way of the Cross Apostolic Faith Church in January of 2017. They are diligently and actively being led by the Spirit of God to reach, teach, and preach God's word to themselves first, the members, the people of the community, and to neighbors far and near.
